The Fraternal Order of Eagles was founded in 1898. The above title and quote was what they believed in. Six theater owners sat on a pile of lumber. They were competitors who had come together to discuss a strike by musicians. These six “decided to bury the hatchet” and formed an organization dubbed “The Order of Good Things”. Meeting on theater’s stages, after taking care of business they rolled out a keg of beer and had social time. Their membership grew, they adopted the bald eagle as an emblem and changed the name to “The Fraternal Order of Eagles”.
