My family tree continues to grow, The ancestor count now stands at 17,332.

This is an old photo and rather faded but I like it all the same. The cat was in my sister’s barn maybe 30+ years ago – younger days. At that time we were visiting from Bangladesh and the farm and all the animals were extra special. I am extra partial to cats – and the browns and grays in this photo – and the memories it evokes.
I spotted this recently in the window of our local Secret Garden Bookshop. I thought there is an author whose name was familiar – Freeman Wills Crofts. My husband had talked of reading his books years ago. So I bought it in its striking new reissue dust jacket. Bingo – Ian (my husband) not only recognized the name but also proceeded to tell me that he and Crofts went to the same school, Campbell College in Belfast Northern Ireland. Crofts would have been a contemporary of Ian’s father and uncle who also went to Campbell. I wonder if they knew him. Further coincidence was that Crofts was born in Dublin near where we lived for many years. I love the way paths cross in many unexpected ways.
A year ago at this time she was struggling for her life. She passed away on September 24th. A life well lived. Not a day goes by when I think of her and have something I want to share with her. I miss her sorely.

We need real rain. Not this heat haze again. And look what is happening on Maui in Hawaii – Hurricane Lane and now a brush fire in Lahaina. Oh dear. And John McCain has given up any treatment for his brain cancer. The news is BAD.
