Trip to Europe -Ex Boston – Day 6 – Thursday June 14th 1934

Katerina did not want me to write this entry earlier today

then after feeding the cat I could proceed

IMG_5412They were still experiencing rough seas and strong winds on board the Laconia.  Aunt Libby slept and my mother continued her social activities.  She met a lot of people by getting them signed up for pingpong tournaments.  And she danced a lot by cutting in.  She descended to 3rd class to see a fancy dress dance.  “Not so nice down there, but a very gay friendly spirit.”

Postcard Day

It was a day for going through boxes and boxes of postcards at the meeting of the Postcard Collectors Club.  I found some nice cards to add to my collection.

For example – isn’t he a cutie?

Collecting …….

There used to be a BBC program called Collector’s Choice,  This was broadcast in the afternoon and was one of our favorites.  People collect all sorts of weird and wonderful things – from teddy bears to insects, for example.  My folly is collecting postcards.  Here are a few of my latest acquisitions.

This one falls into the cat category, obviously.

Cat On Barn Steps

This is an old photo and rather faded but I like it all the same.  The cat was in my sister’s barn maybe 30+ years ago – younger days.  At that time we were visiting from Bangladesh and the farm and all the animals were extra special.  I am extra partial to cats – and the browns and grays in this photo – and the memories it evokes.
