Later – I resorted to using the dictionary and eventually I solved the challenge – got in under the wire as far as the Wordle statistics are concerned. But it was a less than satisfying experience.
The word game that millions are playing – I got it this morning on the final try – the message was “phew”. Yes that’s how I felt. PHEW. My reasoning worked.
Try as I might, I just couldn’t seem to get the right combination of letters today. Chalk it up to experience. The 3 previous days might have been beginners luck.
Will the rain ever stop? Will the sun ever shine? It seems to me that the weather here in Seattle has been particularly bad this month. What has gone wrong? No sunshine that’s what is wrong for me. However, looking on the bright side of things, I have succumbed to Wordle and it is so much fun – and challenging. Three victories in a row – I am on a roll.
We visit Cannock Chase a lot and it frequently appears on this blog. Today was particularly special as we had it almost to ourselves. For those readers unfamiliar with Cannock Chase, it’s an AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty) that lies between Stafford and Cannock, so just north of the West Midlands conurbation. It’s small at around 26 sq miles but very popular and in easy reach of around 3 million people. This morning we saw more deer than people in Sherbrook Valley and Brocton.

We saw around 50 deer, clustered near the old quarry and the heath beyond. We saw one jogger, one dog walker and a cheery man struggling with the Times crossword. With today, March 20, 2022, spring enters: the spring equinox. Unlike the autumnal equinox, the primvaera equinox almost always happens on March 20, and except in rare cases it happens on March 21. We hope that it will bring good weather, both the meteorological and the social one: now, between covid and war, we no longer understand anything.
As regular readers of this blog know, I am an enthusiastic collector of postcards. Now one of our sons is living in Singapore. Therefore I have added that part of the world to the themes of postcards, new and old, to add to my collection.
