I worked in the Brush and Needle in the summer of 1957. I was the live-in cook for the 2 ladies who owned and ran the studio. They were like grandmothers to me. It was a wonderful summer until my maternal grandfather passed away in early August. However, it was comforting to have family nearby.

The postmark is Kampala Uganda and the stamps are from the time when the 3 East African countries formed a postal union. A time long before Independence.
